The estate was formed in the early 19th century on the site of a previously existing driveway to the estate on Olchovskaya street, which was narrow and stretched. The two-storey house was built in 1817 for a merchant P.P. Kuvshinnikov. According to other data, the house was built earlier and originally was a subsidiary of the large estate M.A. Gagarin - M.V. Maltseva. In 1824, a two-storey wing was added to the boundary of the site. In the middle of the 19th century, the house was bought by merchant Popova, who combined the property with neighbouring one (see House J.N. Trubetskoy - A.G. Golovkin). The house was rebuilt, like the neighbouring one, to accommodate production.
Originally the house was a typical representative of the development of Moscow after the fire of 1812 in the style of classicism. After the restructuring of the factory, only the general composition of the members of the facade remained. The late-classical facade of the wing was preserved. The house and the wing are connected by a repeatedly rebuilt wooden annex.
In 2020 the building was renovated and adapted to the office of a law firm.
