RESIDENTIAL COMPLEX OF THE EIGHTEENTH-NINETEENTH CENTURY

The house on Elokhovsky Lane was built in the second half of the 19th century. The small two-storey house 3 keeps typical features of the Lefortovo district: from the middle of the 19th century small officials, craftsmen and merchants lived here, houses were small, more often there were two floors.
The passage leading from Elokhoskaya square to the Nizhnyaya Krasnoselskaya street was called Elokhovsky or Bogoyavlensky after the name of the church of Godcoming in Elokhov (now the cathedral of the Patriarchate). The name of Elokhovsky for the passage was established after the revolution in 1920’s.

The area on which house 3 stands in the first half of the XIX century occupied all the corners of the road and Krasnoselskaya street. On the 1852 plan of Khotev you can see a building that is located just on the site of the house. In the second half of the 19th century the area was divided between three owners. House 3 belonged to the wife of the priest Anna Vasilevna Dmitrievskaya.
At the same time the exterior of the house was finished. The facade had no portico but it was decorated in a pseudo-decorative style. The cartouches paintings above the windows of the second floor carry an ornament imitating the Greek ribbon of infinity. The carriage is supported by elegant mouldings (brackets). In the old photos you can see the pediment that adorned the left side of the building. The first floor is decorated with rust, above the windows there are preserved ornaments. The second owner of the house was Yekaterina Ivanova Orlova who lived here before the revolution of 1917. The further history of the house is unknown. Most likely the house has suffered the fate of all Moscow estates - division into communal apartments, resettlement.

In 2024-2025 the estate will be transformed into a modern dental clinic. The balcony and the bay window over the entrance will be restored at the facade of the building.
